The Spanish firm Sellex has supplied over 800 of its SLAM chairs, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, to furnish the dining areas of this transport hub located close to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (Japan).
Haneda Chronogate is Japan’s biggest logistics terminal. Part of the Yamato group, its facilities use the most cutting-edge of technology yet the company is also environmentally friendly. The building itself is 48 metres high, and covers an expanse of almost 100,000 square metres. Aside from the areas directly involved with logistics, the centre also has common facilities such as a childcare centre and a canteen/restaurant. The latter is where Sellex’s seat designs are to be found.
The SLAM family of chairs, consisting of 13 different versions, ensures a continual flow in the aesthetics of any facility. Distinguished by its lightness and versatility, this chair can be used in all kinds of places, from a clinic waiting room, an office reception area, or – as in this case – in a café, canteen or restaurant.
A company based in the Basque Country, Sellex has designed and manufactured designer furniture for facilities for over 40 years. Its stylish pieces have been used for numerous projects in more than 40 countries, among them airports as famous as Charles de Gaulle in Paris.
