For another year, Casa Decor, Europe’s best platform for interior design, trends, and lifestyle will be held in Madrid. In the heart of the Salamanca district in the capital of Spain, a total of 64 spaces in a building at Calle Velázquez, 21 have been transformed by a hundred design studios with decoration ideas that are surprising, innovative, and, this year, more sustainable.
After 28 uninterrupted years as the benchmark event for the interior design sector in Spain, this year the participating interior design studios have focused on creating healthier, more sustainable esthetic spaces. That’s why this year’s slogan is #CasaDecorSostenible/#SustainableCasaDecor, which seeks to show that it is possible to create interior spaces that are more efficient, sustainable, and friendly to the planet. To that end, the projects presented this year must be based on sustainable actions that optimize the use of resources and energy and provide solutions that are environmentally efficient and reduce waste. As Casa Decor is a short-lived event, another one of the objectives is for the lifespan of the majority of the products used in the spaces to extend beyond closing and that the products can be reused.
Interiors from Spain has visited this spectacular showcase of trends where we have demonstrated the imagination and magic conveyed by the talented Spanish interior design studios. In the building’s five floors and its more than 3,000m2 of exhibition space, we have found wall coverings, luminaires, furniture, textiles, home automation devices, and other products for homes from over 100 companies, as well as design pieces created by participating interior designers especially for this event.
Located on the first floor is the catering area with The Art of Living Frigicoll restaurant by Tristan Domecq and the Lounge Bar by the Grupo Alvic and design by the architect Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez. In addition, Life Gourmet and Ramón Freixa Catering, by Ramón Freixa, awarded two Michelin stars and three Repsol soles, will be the creators behind the cuisine at Casa Decor 2020.
We continue on to the building’s second floor through Espacio Sumbrella, created by JM Ferrero of EstudiHac. Next, we can relax in the colorful Metamoia spa, created by Patricia Bustos. Explore the other spaces, such as the space by bath brand Bathco, conceived by Virginia Sánchez of Interiorismo, the commercial lighting brand Luzco, created by Marta Sánchez Zornoza, and the Dica kitchen.
On the third floor, you can find the impressive space by CIN Valentine, the painting company sponsoring Casa Decor that has made its line of products and colors available for use by all the interior designers and architects in their spaces. This room was conceptualized by the design studio CuldeSac Venture with an impressive sensorial mise-en-scene that transports us to a haute-cuisine restaurant with Bandalux blinds and Luxiona lamps. Don’t miss the mise-en-scene by Mayice Studio in the Niessen space and the stunning spaces: Roca Tile, conceived by Masqueespacio; Simón, designed by Elli, and the living area by Lorna Santos Studio.
On the fourth floor, Nuria Alía impresses with her glass mosaic floor club by Hisbalit and textiles by Lizzo and Pepe Peñalver. In the Laufen space by Sinmas Estudio, the delicate Nightbloom flower petal lamps shine by Lladró, which also is exhibiting its porcelain Belle de Nuit lamp in the game room created by Angelina Sanz on the final floor of the Casa Decor design show.
