The Basque company Sellex was selected to furnish the Uber HQ in Paris. The American multi-national firm first set up shop in Europe in 2011 with this office in the French capital.
The project was to provide the transportation company’s training room with a total of 21 SLAM benches. The selected model was the four-seat unit with a completely black design to match the company’s corporate colors.
This product, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the SLAM chair. Its principal characteristic is its light design that, according to the company, makes the seat shells “float” on the frame, while still being a strong, comfortable bench.
These benches are located in middle of the office space, creating a “clear, well-lit, and open” environment in which, in addition to black, white plays a leading role while also contrasting with a touch of blue added to the room by several auxiliary furniture pieces.
The SLAM bench’s versatility has enabled the brand to also furnish other facilities, such as airports, terminals, hospitals, and funeral homes throughout the world. The dining facilities of the transport hub near Haneda airport in Tokyo, Japan are an example of this.
Sellex is a Spanish business that was founded in San Sebastián in 1977 and manufactures designer furniture and equipment. Over these years, the company has furnished nearly 1,000 facilities with its products in more than 40 countries. The brand has also collaborated with top-class designers. As recognition of its work, the company received the National Design Award of Spain in 2011.
