Six Spanish companies have been awarded in the category of 'Product Design' in the latest edition of the International Design Awards (IDA), which included proposals from more than 80 competing countries Each year these prestigious awards recognize and promote consolidated and upcoming talent in the fields of architecture, interior, graphic and product design, and fashion.
Among these award winners is García Requejo, the firm which received two awards for its N-27 Duo Light germicidal lamp: Silver in the 'Industrial and Life Science Design / Safety Designs' section, and Bronze in 'Lighting / Special Purpose Lighting'. This model, conceived after the coronavirus outbreak for the disinfection of homes and workplaces, combines LED and UVC light technology with a minimalist and organic design that allows it so blend seamlessly with any space.
In the same field of 'Product Design' four other Spanish proposals have been awarded: the ECO explorers Green Riders by the company Wodibow (Silver in 'Toy design / Wooden toys'); the Whale Tail bench by QZ Urban Furniture (Silver in 'Outdoor and Exercise Equipment / Patio / Garden Furniture and Accessories'); the Voxel chair, a design by Karim Rashid's studio for Vondom (Bronze in the same category); and the Zionic massage and radiofrequency device, created by Selegna Design (Bronze in 'Industrial and Life Sciences Design / Medical / Scientific Machinery').
The IDA Awards, with a pedigree of 14 years of history, "look for truly visionary designers, who stand out for their creativity and innovation. As the world faced an unprecedented challenge in 2020, a record number of exceptional submissions were received, making it a daunting and challenging task for the jury to select the winners," said Jill Grinda, vice president of Marketing and Business Development at IDA.
