Year after year, the European Product Design Award recognizes the efforts and talent of international industrial designers who create elaborate and practical designs to solve problems and improve people's everyday lives.
Among the Spanish creators awarded this year, the design studio Anima Design with five awards. Three of them belong in the Life Science Design/Medical/Scientific Machinery category: the folding electric wheelchair , the KITTOS for Totalcare Europe which stands out for its incredible improvements in terms of anthropometry and ergonomics; the medical device SATKAM for Almirall, which acts as a medication dispenser (spray), making it easier for people with multiple sclerosis to self-medicate, thus increasing their autonomy and compliance with the prescribed treatment regimen; and the KANSO slate and room divider. The other two award-winning products are the SOS beacon with geolocation system and V16 certification for the FlashLED brand and the KAREN ultralight violin for the Katahashi Instruments company.
In lighting: Arkoslight won two awards in the Illumination/Architectural Lighting section for the MAGNETIC SYSTEM family of luminaires with magnetic connection and the downlight with "The Invisible Black SHOT LIGHT BIG effect, both designs created by Rubén Saldaña. On the other hand, the design studio BAG was awarded in the Home Interior Products/Lighting category for its original translucent ceramic lamp BIOO LUX for Bioo Lux, which functions as a flowerpot and allows the light to be activated by touching a plant. And the design team of García Requejo won in the Illumination/Special Purpose Lighting section thanks to its Halo standing lamp, which has an internal device that purifies the air thanks to the space located between the base and the top.
In the Outdoor and Exercise Equipment/Patio/Garden Furniture and Accessories category, the following have been awarded prizes: Carlos Soriano Studio for its outdoor armchair inspired by the Japanese lotus leaf; 1292 LOTTUS created for Tecninova, the CITY collection designed by Christophe Pillet for Point; and the MANGA bench by QZ Urban Furniture. In the Home Interior Products/Interior Furniture category, design editor Woodendoot won for its CLOE modular storage system.
In addition, other design studios such as Culdesac, Tandem Company or Innova Industrial Design and design teams from firms such as Azkoyen or Teka have received awards for their designs.
The European Product Design Awards are organized by the Farmani Group, established in 1985, and reward the strategic thinking and imagination required to create a great product.
