Spanish design was present in New York and Dubai this November. A total of thirty-three Spanish companies presented their latest creations at the BDNY and Downtown Design Dubai fairs, in two Spain Pavilions organized by ICEX-Interiors from Spain.
The Spanish Pavilion at the Boutique Design New York Trade Show(BDNY) which was held at the Javits Convention Center on November 13 and 14, featured 27 Spanish companies specializing in furniture, lighting, home textiles and ceramic floor and wall tiles, parquet, and decorative accessories.
Among the networking opportunities offered to Spanish companies was a working breakfast on Friday, November 11 at the Chrysler Building, organized by the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in New York, with members of the company that organizes the Emerald Expo Trade Show and a group of opinion leaders, including the editor of the U.S. magazine Hospitality Design. They discussed which brand methodology works best to get the attention of trade show visitors and how to optimize the chances of getting recommendations. A reception with Cava and Spanish cheeses was offered at the Interiors from Spain booth on Sunday November 13 at 1 pm, with a view to generating footfall and networking opportunities. And on Monday 14, one representative from each Spanish brand was invited to the cocktail party held before the Gold Key Awards celebration.
In addition, as promotional activities, Spanish participation was publicized through an ad in the magazines Metropolis, Boutique Design as well as in the Fair Directory, and for the first time a raffle was held on Instagram by Interiors from Spain (@interiorsfrom_spain) offering the chance to win one of four design pieces from four different companies present in the Spanish Pavilion: Estiluz, LZF Lamps, Nomón and RS Barcelona. The pieces were displayed at the ICEX-Interiors from Spain stand at the fair and were raffled exclusively among U.S. residents from November 11-20.
Six Spanish companies exhibited at the Spanish Pavilion at the Downtown Design Dubai fair, held from November 9 to 12. The Spain Pavilion was formally presented on November 9 at Actiu's new showroom, which recently opened in the emirate's capital. This ‘Spanish Breakfast’ hosted a conversation moderated by Love That Design that discussed Spanish influence on architecture and design in the area. Juan Roldán (architect, designer, and professor at the American University of Sharjah, who designed the Spanish Pavilion for the 2021 fair entitled ‘Interior Makers’), Mohammed Adib (Chief Design Officer at Dewan Architects and Designers) and Marta González (Design Director at Accor) participated in the colloquium.
