What can bring together a fine arts graduate and a metal industry expert? Javier Jover and Quico Valls must have thought so when, four years ago, they founded the Jover+Valls brand, a home decor atelier that combines timeless design with a contemporary lifestyle.
This unique and cross-cutting project was born when Quico and Javier joined their knowledge obtained during 20 years in businesses as diverse as industrial machinery, fashion and accessories. Their goal was to manufacture consumer products where design, comfort, materials and finishes are unique. “It's about appreciating simple sings," they explain.
Their main efforts are dedicated to the seating category, where chairs, armchairs and stools stand out. In fact, their "flagship product" are kitchen stools that blend into the house as a space for socializing. "We believe in the product being integrated in a space where exclusivity is felt discreetly," that is, where details are not necessarily seen "at first sight," explains the firm.
In fact, their current collections are oriented towards that direction. An example of this are "Wanderlust" and "Hug," two collections of handmade armchairs, where aesthetics and form merge with the craftsmanship of leather and the precision of metal finishes.
Likewise, those in charge of the brand talked about new releases developing this year such as accessories for the house, cushions, trays, mirrors and candleholders, under the firm’s spirit of design, quality and exclusivity. At the same time, Jover+Valls are working on a new family of seats that will be launched in the 2021 catalog, along with new furniture and decoration objects, which will highlight leather craftsmanship and the sustainability of materials.
In addition, the brand's unique touch is complemented by its treatment and care of the product. Javier Jover points out that all the skins they use in their collections come "from the food industry" and that "the process of tanning bovine leather is vegetable." In addition, he points out that they bet on the local industry since "90% of their suppliers are KM 0" and only matter when necessary.
Likewise, from Jover+Valls, they explain that the manufacturing process of their pieces is "by hand" and that they use technology from industries such as "automotive, aerospace, machine tools" where precision is a "critical" element and they take as a reference, for example, "the way of manufacturing Rolls-Royce cars," they explain, when using metal.
Export, the foundation of success
The key to their success lies partly in online marketing, where Design-oriented product focus is employed in conjunction with Art in capital letters. Through online platforms, the firm searches for clients of exclusive products, on a global scale. The other decisive issue is exports, which found a preferential niche in the American market. Said market represents 80% of their sales and last year they already established the first commercial agreements in the country, highlighting the opening of a shared showroom in New York, very close to the Empire State Building along with other Spanish brands such as Point and Naturtex.
Other markets in which they have physical presence through distributors are Mexico and the United Kingdom. The markets on which new contacts are being made are France, Ukraine, South Africa, China and South Korea.
