Emotional connection through artisanal lighting
A decade ago, in the city of Totana, industrial designer Miguel Ángel García Belmonte embarked on a unique venture: Pott Project. Inspired by his hometown’s rich pottery tradition, Miguel Ángel wanted to craft contemporary design pieces using natural materials and traditional techniques. What began as a personal vision evolved into a brand that merges craftsmanship with design, elevating the emotional connection to each object.
Pott Project’s essence lies in its commitment to authenticity and integrity throughout the creative process. From selecting designers to collaborating with local artisans, the brand strikes a balance between innovation and respect for traditions. This approach is reflected in meticulous attention to detail and a passion for overcoming technical challenges, resulting in one-of-a-kind products that blur the lines between art and functional design.
Fueled by a profound connection to his surroundings and a desire to preserve cultural heritage, Miguel Ángel has led this enterprise, challenging the norms of mass production to embrace the individuality of each piece. In a world fixated on speed and uniformity, Pott Project embraces the “slow” philosophy, where authenticity and craftsmanship intertwine to create objects that not only serve a purpose but also tell a story.
Creating for People
At the heart of Pott Project lies a belief in people and human connection. Each piece, crafted through artisanal processes, embodies human sensitivity and insight. The brand seeks to preserve the emotional resonance sparked by artisanal objects, upholding traditions while championing the creation of value by combining design and craftsmanship.
Originally envisioned for the most intimate corners of the home, Pott Project works now find purpose in contract and hospitality projects, establishing connections between environment, individuals, and their emotions.
Their mission is simple: to preserve the unique emotional bonds forged by artisanal objects. They honor traditions, human craftsmanship, and the inherent sensitivity infused into every piece they create. Through this, they champion the creation of value by combining design vision with the human connection only craftsmanship can provide.
Bestsellers and New Collections
Pott Project’s standout products include the SPONGE UP, CALÓ, and FLAME pendant lamps, along with the NAIS table lamp by Luis Eslava. These pieces have captured customers’ attention for their unique designs and quality craftsmanship. However, the TERRA collection, designed by Altherr Désile Park, is anticipated to become the undisputed star, with demand steadily increasing since its launch in May 2023.
Additionally, their recent collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn has expanded the brand’s offerings beyond luminaires. This exclusive collection of vases and fruit bowls is available only in Carl Hansen & Søn’s flagship stores worldwide.
In 2024, the company’s strategy focuses on broadening its product range. This includes introducing new collections like the BELL family of lamps and expanding existing ones with updated versions of the SPONGE UP, TERRA, FLAME, and OKINA lamps, the latter designed by Martín Azúa. Finally, they are also enhancing their accessory line, introducing a new family of vases and other items set to hit the market in the coming months.
Internationalization
With a footprint spanning four continents, Pott Project has achieved remarkable growth in the international market, embodying a longstanding dedication to export endeavors. Presently, 75% of its revenue is derived from overseas markets, with notable strongholds including France (its leading market in Europe), the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Looking ahead, the company wants to consolidate its foothold in Europe, prioritizing markets such as Benelux, Germany, and the Nordic countries. They are also seeking to explore fresh opportunities in burgeoning markets like Japan, where they have already have successful ventures underway since 2023.
