Its new collections Textile, Arumi and DozeQuinze provide ample proof of this.
Outdoor furniture manufacturer Gandía Blasco gives us a sneak preview of its new collections for this year – Textile, Arumi and DozeQuinze – which show, once again, that the company seriously invests in the talent and fresh, contemporary ideas of young designers.
Comprising an armchair and table, the Textile collection was created by Spanish designer Ana Llobet, who tells us, ‘This project is inspired by fashion. I’ve applied ideas and techniques found in textile production to the world of furniture design. The way my furniture is “sewn” together mimics the sewing used to make clothes. This allows for a very flexible seating system which can be adapted to all sorts of personalities, as is the case with fashion, too. The sewn elements of the armchair make it very ergonomic, comfortable and highly individual.’
Arumi is a collection of units created by Belgian designer Emmanuel Gardin, which, he says, shows that ‘It’s a very simple idea: it springs from a desire for metamorphosis. Arumi’s units can be linked together to create a large coffee table that can be configured in a variety of ways. Their height can be adjusted to make them taller or lower tables. An individual unit can be positioned in many ways, both outdoors in the garden and on terraces just by a house.’
Finally, Italian designer Francesco Silliti created the DozeQuinze seats. He says his project is inspired by ‘observing the densely interlinked cables you see in São Paolo. DozeQuinze is a furniture range which channels this particular idea, giving each piece an individual, distinctive quality.’
What’s more, Gandía Blasco will launch a number of other pieces in its new collections – Tropez, designed by Stefan Diez, Flat, created by Mario Ruiz, and the Atlantic range of chairs, sofas, tables and deckchairs, designed by Jose A Gandía-Blasco.
