The studio designs chef Paco Roncero’s two restaurants in the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza.
Two Michelin-starred Spanish chef Paco Roncero has opened two restaurants, Estado Puro (a ‘gastrobar’) and Sublimotion, at the new Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, Europe’s first Hard Rock hotel which has five stars. The interiors of both were designed by Spanish design studio Estudi{Ha}c.
Estado Puro accommodates 300 people, and is divided into two areas — one for enjoying Spanish tapas and another that’s more casual. As the studio puts it, both areas have been designed ‘using entirely natural materials’, notably Travertine limestone. Otherwise, the studio opted for textures based on the octagon, a considered selection of furniture and custom-made, hand-crafted wood features — in oak and teak — all of which make this restaurant look elegant and thoroughly contemporary.
The designs of Estudi{Ha}c wittily nod to memorabilia associated with the Hard Rock brand: an area called ‘Ham-Rock Corner’, which features a gigantic ham made of neon that recalls the famous guitars that grace Hard Rock venues, as well as a huge sculpture of a red chicken called ‘The Chicken Teacher’. In the centre of the restaurant stands an enormous sculpture of a palm tree covered with ‘peinetas’ — Spanish hair combs — which is Estado Puro’s logo, while an outdoor terrace boasts four large olive trees. Furniture and homeware by several Spanish companies grace the restaurant — Sancal’s Tea and Casta chairs and Pion table; Kettal’s Vieques collection; Expormim’s Fontal and Tina armchairs; rugs by Nanimarquina (its Natural design) and Alfombras Veo Veo, and BD Barcelona Design’s Olvidada lighting.
The other new restaurant, Sublimotion, offers a more upscale, ‘gastronsensorial’ spectacle for its diners, and here cutting-edge gastronomy and technological innovation come together to create a unique, emotional experience. In this project, Estudi{Ha}c has collaborated in the design of the entrance areas and terrace, which is furnished with outdoor furniture supplied by Spanish companies Vondom and Gandía Blasco.
