Parasol Sol – Alegreindustrial’s new offering

The studio designs a new concept of vertical parasol.

Alegreindustrial has created a new concept of vertical parasol called Sol that’s based on the sun’s movements and wind patterns. As the sun goes down, Sol becomes a space divider that’s ideal for any area used for socialising or relaxing. Fabricated from plastic made by rotational moulding, it turns and adapts to the different needs of any given moment, thanks to its synchronised spoke mechanism.

Boasting over 10 years’ experience in their business, Alegreindustrial’s team regard design as a globally relevant concept applied to the entire development process, and as something that takes into account sustainability, user-friendly qualities, efficiency and environmentally responsible design in terms of all it produces. It sees itself as a bridge between design and manufacture, and aims to generate technical and creative innovations which get better and better over time. The studio has created over 100 products for different clients – notably for Actiu, Fagor, Grosfillex, Hettich, Roca and Punt Mobles.

Its designs have scooped prestigious, international prizes, such as the Red Dot Design Award, iF product design award and Delta and (German) Designpreis Deutschland prizes. Most notably, in 2012, the company won a Red Dot award – one of world’s most prestigious product design awards – for its office chair TNK A500, a highly environmentally friendly design created for Actiu.
