Chairs and tables in Gaudí-esque shapes designed by Ross Lovegrove .
Vondom, the cutting-edge, Spanish outdoor furniture company, continues to enchant us with its new ideas. One of the latest of these – unveiled recently at the Milan Furniture Fair – is the Biophilia collection, dreamt up by British designer Ross Lovegrove.
Comprising chairs, sofas, armchairs and tables, the collection combines references to the cutting-edge, organic design of the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, created by masterly Spanish, Art Nouveau architect Antoni Gaudí, with Vondom’s state-of-the-art, rotational moulding of plastic and research on the digital transfer process in contemporary design. Biophilia is inspired by the late 19th-century/ early 20th-century Art Nouveau movement’s rediscovery of natural motifs and the many organic forms that sprang up in its wake. Thanks to the vivid imagination of the era’s designers, artists, photographers and architects, this movement breathed life into inanimate forms taken from nature.
Once again, Vondom has wowed us with its avant-garde creations, which bring warmth, modernity and comfort to all types of outdoor spaces, both by day and night. They’re also highly durable and capable of withstanding very inclement weather conditions. Vondom’s funky ranges of plant-holders, such as Peacock and Adán, perfectly complement its lightweight, comfortable furniture collections, such as Frame and Faz, both designed by Ramón Esteve.
