Design In/From Spain. Summer issue
A warm welcome to our summer issue, which brings you the latest from Spain's vibrant design scene.
The Milan Furniture Fair is, of course, a huge event in the design calendar, and this year 80 – yes 80 – Spanish companies exhibited. See our comprehensive review of the latest product launches across furniture, kitchens, and bathrooms, as well as all the events that make up the fabulous city-wide Fuorisalone.
And we look at the very diverse and innovative new lighting collections launched at Light+Building in Frankfurt. It's good to see so many companies, such as Bover, Estiluz, Vibia, Marset and B.lux, making energy-saving LEDs the main light source for their decorative lighting.
Congratulations to winners of Andreu World's design competition and to the companies which have won Red Dot and Design + awards this year; while it's great to see that Spanish design has been much in evidence across Europe - as you'll see in our Projects section.
We talk to Valencia-based designer Borja García about life as both an architect and an industrial designer. He says it was important for him to train as both, as each discipline offers an extra dimension to the other.
We also focus on two very different but equally successful companies: Resol, the world leader in the manufacture of 'designer' plastic furniture; and Inbani, the luxury contemporary bathroom brand that focuses on a pared-down aesthetic imbued with idiosyncrasy and character.
With best wishes,
Julián Izquierdo
