In the center of Sydney, the Australian city, very close to the famous Opera House, we find the Government House, an iconic building that is 175 years old. The building, housing an impressive collection of historical paintings, furniture, and decorative art from the Australian colonial period, is the official residence of the governor of New South Wales.
One of the most unique corners attracting more visitors to this building are the large gardens surrounding the house. And to further beautify this outdoor scene, Australian landscape architect Jane Irwin was chosen to redesign the east-facing embankment of the building.
The renovation project installed nearly three thousand local plants in three flowerbeds and cleared the large grassy area, visually connecting the Government House with the harbor and the sea. In addition to renovating the stone paving of the pathways and restoring the fountain that enhances the new layout of the gardens, Jane Irwin selected lamps from the Vibia's Bamboo collection to illuminate the pathways and highlight specific crops, thereby giving the gardens a more contemporary and natural look.
The Bamboo floor lamps, created by Antoni Arola & Enric Rodríguez, stand out for their slender lines, blending naturally into outdoor environments. The thin cane on this lamp, studded with LED lights, evokes the plant after which the collection was named. This outdoor collection is ideal for illuminating and highlighting pathways, walkways and even large open spaces such as the Government House’s gardens, which require an avant-garde style in a natural environment.
Once again, Vibia's design is integrated into architectural spaces full of history, as we already saw in the historic Palazzo Grillo in Genoa, turned into the elegant Palazzo Grillo Hotel whose renovated interiors merge classic art with the most contemporary style.
