The prestigious IF DESIGN Awards, which recognize the creative power of the world's best design, have awarded this year 43 companies and 34 Spanish design and architecture studios, three times as many as in the last edition, with a total of 61 products on the list of triumphs.
Four of these studios and three companies received the IF GOLD Award, which honors the 75 best designs among all the award-winning pieces. The Spanish winners in this section were the LAMINA pendant lamp, designed by Antoni Arola for Santa&Cole; the IKONA chair, created by Jorge Pensi for Resol; the AXIA milling system, designed by Nacar Studio for the Nicolás Correa Group; the NILO ambulance sanitary cell project by Magma for Rodríguez López Auto and the LIVALL Evo21 mountain bike helmet, created by the Spanish studio Ruma Design for the Chinese company Qianhai LIVALL.
By disciplines, Spanish companies won 53 awards in the "Product Design" category, three in "Corporate Identity,” two in "Discipline Architecture" and one each in the "Packaging Design," "Discipline Professional Concept" and "Discipline User Interface” disciplines.
In the "Product Design" category, by sector, 17 prizes were awarded for furniture pieces, eight for lighting products and another eight for proposals for the bathroom sector.
Among the Spanish companies with the most awards in this edition are Resol, with three, and Musola, Inclass, Santa&Cole, Simón, Genebre, Sanycess , Fiora and Grupo Nicolas Correa, with two each.
With regard to Spanish designers and design studios, this year the role of designer Inma Bermúdez and Claussell Studio, both winners of four awards, followed by Lúcid Design Agency and Nacar Studio, with three awards, should be highlighted. Other studios such as Yonoh, Odos Design, Jorge Pensi, Santiago Sevillano, Tandem Company, José Belenguer, Fran Silvestre Arquitectos and Gauzak, have been awarded two prizes.
The IF DESIGN Awards have been celebrated for 68 years by the world's oldest independent design society, the iF International Forum Design GmbH, based in Germany. This year, 10,000 products from 52 countries were presented in a total of nine disciplines related to design and innovation. The award jury was formed by 72 renowned designers and design professionals, mainly from Europe and Asia.
