This year's winners of the influential Red Dot Awards have just been announced. Red Dot Design Awards. These awards are given annually by the prestigious German design organization "Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen". For more than 65 years, this prestigious German design entity has been awarding the good design and creativity of firms from the five continents, whose products it values for their innovation, formal quality, functionality and timelessness.
In this 2022 edition, 26 Spanish companies and 14 Spanish design studios have been awarded for their innovative products and designs.
From the furniture sector, Andreu Word has won two awards for the FOREST CLUB modular armchair and the ADELA REX armchair, both designed by the French designer Philippe Starck, and Ondarreta was awarded for the practical IKA folding chair, designed by Arquimaña Studio, which stands out for its attractive craftsmanship and impresses with the intelligent construction of its backrest. And the Yonoh design studio for the cozy BUFA sofa created for the Chinese firm HC28 Cosmo.
In lighting, the Arkoslight brand won two awards for the sophisticated YORU portable lamp and for the BLACK FOSTER downlight, a luminaire that surprises with the remarkable effect of an almost invisible light source.
In bathroom, the CALMA and TEMPO bathtubs designed by Jorge Herrera for Sanycess have won two awards, and the HYLLA piece of furniture by Fiora, the ECO TOILET toilet brush by Casa Vigar and the OXO faucets by Noken and URBAN CHIC by Ramón Soler have won one award respectively.
And two other Spanish design studios have won two awards; Jaime Hayón Studio for the artistic urban interior natural space MOKA GARDEN and for the soft, flowing library and low shelves for children MOKA, both designed for the Hyundai Museum of Kids' Books & Art. And innovation agency Lúcid Design for the VALLEY backpack for Barner Ventures and for the eMod IoT electronic platform for business, which allows interconnecting devices through multiple protocols and standards and merging data streams for PickData.
The innovation of the PIXEL ONE and PIXEL MAX pedalless bicycles designed by Pixel Bikes was also awarded. Anima Design for Pixel Bikes, which lies in their spokeless wheels: thanks to an internal sliding system and self-lubricating materials, the wheels run without bearings, making it easy to transport or hang the bike. And the surprising closing mechanism of the SOSO olive oil dispenser created by Grupo Idea Soluciones Integrales for Soso Factory, which has also won an IF Gold award this year.
Fourteen other innovative companies from other sectors and seven design studios completed the list of Spanish winners of this year's RED DOT.
