New Spanish products to go on show at the Milan Furniture Fair

Once again we’re off to the Milan Furniture Fair – held this year from April 17 to 22. It will be the 51st event of its kind – without a doubt the hottest, international date in the design-world calendar.

Over 70 of Spain’s main brands will converge there, including such world-renowned outdoor furniture companies as Vondom, Gandía Blasco,Kettal and Expormim. There’ll be other participating firms such as Stua, Sellex and Andreu World, indisputable leaders in the contract market, as well as such companies as Nanimarquina, BD Barcelona Design, Punt Mobles, Joquer, Mobles 114 and Sancal, all true pioneers in the world of cutting-edge design.

Mention must be made too of RS Barcelona, known for its original, on-trend style, and of the innovative, brightly coloured, versatile washbasins of Boing, a brand which will be showing at the fair for the first time. As in previous years, such leading companies of high-end classical design as Guadarte, Colección Alexandra, Época Internacional and Muebles Picó will also be present.

All these companies are sure to wow us with their new ideas. Expormim, for example, will unveil its Fontal chair created in collaboration with Oscar Tusquets, Kettal an outdoor furniture collection co-produced with Jasper Morrison, BD Barcelona its Chandlo dressing table dreamt up with design duo Doshi Levien and Nanimarquina a rug which reinterprets Spanish abstract artist Eduardo Chillida’s 1993 work, Gravitación.

Finally, NUDE – now an established platform for young Spanish designers, and a satellite show during the fair – will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year with an exhibition at the Instituto de Cervantes’s building in Milan. There we’ll be able to delight in pieces by such leading contemporary design companies as Héctor Serrano, CuldeSac, Odosdesign, Herme&Mónica, Estudihac, Nadadora, Borja García, Miguel Herranz, Nieves Contreras, Enblanc, Yonoh, Stone Designs, Luis Eslava and Marcelo Alegre.
