Design specialized American magazine Interior Design Magazine announced on May 17 and 18 in an online ceremony the winners of the sixth edition of the NYCxDESIGN awards, which recognize the best projects and products of this past year.
In this edition, the firms Andreu World, LZF and Gan and the designs of Patricia Urquiola and Mayice for these companies have been awarded as "Winners". Plentiful other Spanish brands such as Cosentino, Gandía Blasco, Expormim, Diabla, Bover, Estiluz, Now Carpets and Missana have obtained a "Special Mention" for the great designs on show.
The “Iconic Design” category was won by the Andreu World firm for the NUEZ LOUNGE BIO armchair, made entirely from 100% biodegradable materials and designed by Patricia Urquiola. Adding to that, its brand new New York showroom, located in the New York Design Center and opening in late 2020, has also received an "Honorable Mention" in the "Large Retail/Showroom"category .
The rug and furniture accessories brand Gan won in the "Contract Flooring" category for its PATCH & CORD project for the Haworth office store in New York. Meanwhile, the group's other two brands, Gandía Blasco and Diabla ,received "Honorable Mentions" in the "Outdoor Furniture" category for the outdoor furniture collections CAPA and GRILL, the latter created by the Mut Design studio .
Finally, the designer lighting brand LZF Lamps, which last year won the "Spanish National Design Award 2020", has won in the "Pendant Fixtures" category for the sculptural DUNE lamp. A spectacular suspended luminaire, designed by the Mayice studio and composed of a delicate blown glass bubble combined with wood veneer. This spectacular piece of design already won a BoY award in 2020.
