In the mont of June, the best Spanish design could be seen from the hand of ICEX and its brand Interiors from Spain. Nearly 100 Spanish companies and designers of furniture, lighting, carpets, tiles and decorative accessories will be exhibited their latest creative proposals in the cities of Milan, Copenhagen and Berlin.
We traveled first to one of the great design capitals of the world, Milan, where we organized from June 6 to 11 in the ‘Instituto Cervantes’ of the Lombard capital the ‘Appartamento Spagnolo’ (Spanish Apartment), coinciding with Milan Design Week. The magazine ‘Elle Decor Italia’ and the Italian architectural firm DWA have been in charge of designing this space in which a careful and harmonious selection of design pieces from 12 Spanish companies in the habitat sector are displayed.
The installation took place in the new headquarters of the Cervantes Institute, located in the historic center of Milan and consisted of 4 rooms and the terrace spread over two floors where the textures, the quality of the materials, the shapes of the designs, the sounds and the smells made us travel from Milan to Spain. It was a scenographic space that will told us about domestic moments, daily rituals, uses of space and habits. The starting point for a project that explored new aspects of contemporary life with Spanish design as the protagonist. Walking through it, you were experienced the sensations of a modern lifestyle: from environments related to food and socializing to soft shapes that recreated a private niche where you can take refuge and, all this, without compromising on the ultimate urban luxury of a terrace: maximum exponent of the outdoor living attitude in Mediterranean countries.
’Milan Design Week’ coincided with this installation, from June 6 to 12, with a busy schedule of events including the ‘Salone del Mobile de Milano’ (Milan Furniture Fair) and the Fuori Salone.
In the ‘Salone del Mobile di Milano’, 48 Spanish companies representing 76 brands were participating. Spain was the second country with the largest number of companies in the various halls of the fair, after Italy.
In addition to ‘Appartamento Spagnolo’, Fuori Salone also featured the participation of 14 tile companies under the ‘Tile of Spain’ brand in the showroom of the Archiproducts product library in Milan, whose facade was decorated by the metal chain firm Kriskadecor, the ‘Inspired in Barcelona’ exhibition with 30 design pieces, the participation of 6 Spanish designers in the ‘Rocollectible 2022 /Designers & Crafter’ exhibition at the well-known Rossana Orlandi Gallery and the DAAily Bar in which the Andreu World and Vibia companies participated with design pieces. In addition, Spanish companies Cosentino, Porcelanosa Group, Expormim, RS Barcelona and Marset, among others, were participating with products in other Fuori Salone events.
A few days later, from June 15 to 17, the ‘3 Days of Design’ festival was held in the Danish capital. In the ‘Odd Fellow Palace’, a space curated by Framing Events, we have organized an exhibition of a harmonious selection of design pieces from 8 Spanish companies. The assembly allowed us to enjoy, interact and learn more about the background of these brands and their innovative products, where the protagonist was not only be our Mediterranean heritage, but also the quality and creativity of these companies that design solutions for all types of interior, exterior and office spaces.
And to finish off the month, we finished at the Spanish Embassy in Berlin, an imposing neoclassical building located in the Tiergarten district, where most of the diplomatic representations in the German capital can be found. On June 30, we organized an exhibition with Spanish products from seven Spanish furniture, lighting, office and tile companies. We encourage you to follow these exhibitions on our new Instagram account.
